On the Verge of Old Age

On the verge of old age
complaining about the night of the world
is bad, (you) reasonable man
To respect Diazepam,
try to sleep
without sorrow or a kiss

You, like a house slave,
become a burden to the day
No one told you not to
burn from your core
You were not the sun
to shine unsparingly

What horses raised
inside you
Whinnying, the life of your throat
gradually dragged toward the end
Who attached you to the cart
that you are receiving daily payments in agony?

Kicking a lion
whose patience was his roar
(and) broke the cheetah
who was tame and behaved like a mirror
And high above a mouth
an eagle fell down

You stayed brave and mixed
bread and blood to survive
You did not run in vain
and after all this running,
what is left for the folks
other than a stable and a leash?

You're identified in the world but
you don't have an identification card
You're continuously sorrowful but
you, yourself, will not continue
An arrogance of no offspring
Constructing a building of destruction

You were not a chosen one
Admit it that you weren't
Admit it that you are a prophet
without any miracles
You have a raised issue
but you are without a book

(You are) a hatch that beat and
shined the light of a patio
on our small world
Come, come back to life, oh moon
so that every night, like a eulogy,
you will shine on this hatch

May a thousand fish
be sacrificed for the blueness of the sea
May a thousand sheets of painkillers
be sacrificed for this young sorrow
May a thousand swoop of cranes
be sacrificed for the blue vastness

Complaining about the small night
and nagging like a child
is enough, blessed grief
May your night be long, and so be your sorrow
Have a good sorrow, and a (good) night too
It's the night, (you) reasonable man

You Are in the Distance of the Rain

You are in the distance of the rain
and sorrow is a carriage of tear
and the tear is a short neigh
You and I must feed in the stable of death
(so) get down from this carriage
(as) you (should) also neigh sometimes

Gallop, oh stud of oxygen
and find a trail or something
toward the window
The air of confinement is breathtaking
Galloping, unlock me
Gallop, you who are full of paths

I'm the one who is a sad stork
on your chimney
I'm a fish in the long
sea of your highlighted hair
I'm the one who is a bait on the hook
Capture me, oh fish

I'm the prey, capture me
then kiss me and swing me
then swing me and kiss me
and then do what, what to me
'what' is whatever you want
(Do) want what you want

Hey, you with your nose up
Get down from this carriage
And stick to me right now
Kiss me right now
as living is only a couple of blows
and life (nothing but) a short cough

We're Big and Stupid

We're big and stupid
We drink like cows
the mirage of a pasture
It's a drought and we know
that the tears will drown
the hippopotamuses

We're large and sad
We're both black and pessimistic
We don't rain a drop
for prosperity
And we don't respect
the destruction

When the night falls, we're asleep
and we're asleep in the morning and at noon
and (we're asleep) in the afternoon until night
and from night to night again
(While asleep), we dream of
a sunny day

Good...we're good and happy
We're rigid, tough, and stubborn
At the peak of loneliness
like loose women
we know it quite well
how to find friends

We're cows, horses, human beings
We're the keepers of true knowledge1
We're supporters of women
We're slaves to (our) bodies
We guard, guard
the love in the bed

Conquered science
Complex system
Ignorant scholars
Will we, robots,
understand one day
the acquired knowledge?

We're poor in eating
We're stingy in dying
Will we, being among the tightfisted
and the flatterers,
leave this habit of
behaving like beggars?

We had the wedding attire on
We drank like cows
We strove like horses
We boiled like tears
And the tears then drowned
the hippopotamuses

Good...we're good and happy
We're rigid, tough, and stubborn
At the peak of lonliness
like loose women
we know it quite well
how to find friends

We're cows, horses, human beings
We're the keepers of true knowledge1
We're supporters of women
We're slaves to (our) bodies
We guard, guard
the love in the bed

- We're essentially masterful
We're masters of puns
We're scholars in knowledge
We're scholars in reading
But we esteem
sewer poetry

The Corrupt World of People

Throw away the corrupt world of people
and while being away (from it)
get used to the aroma of your own essence
Lay in ambush for your world
and then turn your hunters
into gazelles with the arrow of miracle

Winters are long
and snow is not a good prescription
for the coughing of (flower) vases
There is no flower left, be a flower yourself
Plant yourself and bloom
Pick yourself and smell yourself

My heart is a Daf1, oh canebrakes
The illegible Sufi look
The troubled world of Molana2
The troubled mouth of Molana
You are my Khanqah3
Whirl and say Ya Haqq4 and Ya Hoo5 with me

It's night (time), turn beautiful on your own
and bear (patiently) a few months
then give birth to me
Shine on my night, oh sea
and under your feathers,
turn my ugly duckling into a swan

No one hears us
If you intend to speak
and feel the pain to talk
If you are your own mouth
If you are your own tongue
turn to your own ears

Two cut-from-shoulder (ones)
Two shy (ones), two crazy (ones)
I'm two hands who want
to embrace you, oh forest
Give some support, attention, something
to these two shy (plant) stems

I'm copper that (is why) I'm scattered
I'm inflicted with pain and misery
You're impartial that (is why) you are gold
With the magic of your justness
turn yourself into yourself
but turn me into a (weighing) scale

Kiss yourself since your lips
still taste of honey
Seek yourself since your embrace
still desires a hug
Plant yourself and bloom
Pick yourself and smell yourself

Please Tell the First Knuckle of Your Thumb

Please tell the first knuckle of your thumb
to have a little bit more patience
Out of stinginess, my doorbell will have a stroke
if your hand leans a bit toward the door

You knock on the door to enter my lonliness
but it is not unlikely that when you leave
the door itself abandons its home and, like me,
becomes a wanderer searching for your knocking

It's been years that this unfortunate turtle hatchling
hatches and runs toward you
but it is destined that at the final step,
that is on the verge of the sea, it flip over

I tossed and turned for 9 months and I persevered
to become, in that womb, a piece of clothing so that you would wear me
or cup of wine so that you would drink me
Any sperm that does not like to become a boy!

Any sperm that does not like to become a bump
I said (to myself), 'I would become a bump, a bump inside you
and I would swell more and more, and with my growth
your madness would also grow'

But I became a boy to desire you
I become constantly restless to desire you

But I became a boy to desire you
I become constantly restless to desire you

- But I became a boy to desire you
I become constantly restless to desire you
to constantly desire you so that the desire
would die away being embarrassed by its inability

Your hand is blessed that slaps (in the) ears
Your hand is blessed that bring (one) back to consciousness
Oh, Jesus of blessed hands! Hit me
so that a dead (one) is given the honor of coming back to life

But I became a boy to desire you
I become constantly restless to desire you

But I became a boy to desire you
I become constantly restless to desire you

Cut in the Name of Your God

- What wisdom is there in this kind of death
in this most romantic death
and (in) taking the brain to the space
and (in) taking the tears to the bathroom
What wisdom is there that at the outset
my eyes are fixed on the final (end)

Cut in the name of your God
since the gentleness of Ebrahim's dagger
is due to the sharpness of (religious) instructions
Do not forget your perpetrators
(as) you are an obligatory decree
and love is an execution (firing) squad

Burn me in the hands of (a) sigh
since my burning is (only) smoke
Wrap me in the shroud in coughs
as my body is smoke all over
and my mouth 1 in filled with smoke
Your sorrow is the thickest puff (of smoke)
Oh...

And my mouth in filled with smoke
Your sorrow is the thickest puff (of smoke)
Oh...

- My eyes are fixed on the final (end)

The syringes, all red
and the colors, all red
Sama2 of Molavis3, red
the world, end to end, red
as a mark of your ruddy rouge
still remains on the edge of this cup

Tell me (you) unique star
in the solitude of the observatory
what urn broke that day
that after the passage of 900 years
still its hands4 remain wrapped
around the neck of Khayyam?
Oh...

Still its hands remain wrapped
around the neck of Khayyam?
Oh...

See how captivated I am
Kill me such that after death
I die a thousand times
your machinations, do you see?
I am the pure vein of the emir [ruler]
who is preparing to bathe

What wisdom is there in this kind of death
in this most romantic death
and (in) taking the brain to the space
and (in) taking the tears to the bathroom
What wisdom is there that at the outset
my eyes are fixed on the final (end)

What wisdom is there that at the outset
my eyes are fixed on the final (end)

- my eyes are fixed on the final (end)

  • 1. The text uses the word نخ به نخ which is intentionally ambiguous. نخ could be read as a 'thread' or as a unit for 'cigarettes'. نخ به نخ in the earlier sense, means unraveling of the threads and in the latter, refers to chain smoking. Obviously, difficult to translate!
  • 2. Whirling dance:
  • 3. Disciplies of Molavi:
  • 4. the hands could refer to the handle of the urn as well

Boat-less Oar

Versions: #2
My eyes are two arrogant soldiers
that have been away from their loved one for a long time
Two soldiers that two lonely women
are washing clothes in their worries

My hands are two handle-less knives
Two big hand-tied locks
Two oars, two boat-less oars
Two ships with ten tired anchors

My throat is the most unfrequented dead-end alley
My head is the most intractable fountain of the square
A cup of coffee in the most woeful café
A passenger in the stray streets

I closed my eyes and opened them and saw
that someone has made a sky out of my closed wings
Someone has become an incubus, pressing my chest
Someone has made a ladder out of my bones

My head: a bunch of shabby books
A hot air balloon with a torn rope
A person who is sentenced to death
Who has no hope for life
But life still attracts him

It was not that life was more than I deserved
Neither it was written on my forehead to be little
Either way, I was not mugging
I just wanted to be like myself

I ruined my throat from singing
but these people said
That I'm mental, and not a lover
Nobody believed that this shape-less man
agrees with nothing but love

Joseph

Versions: #2
There was regret
and nothing but regret was shining in the night
Each spring that dried up,
turned into tears and dropped down our eyes

I'm upset with fate,
I wish there was an end to suffering
If Joseph truly had brothers,
he wouldn't have ended up in a well

The heart was boiling like a fountain,
When God broke people’s urns everyday
And made hearts with the shattered pieces

With the pieces of my heart
He made urns, continuously
Alack!
Every night,
he turned blood and soil into mud for me

Sow and reap
Reap and donate
God's earth belongs to everybody
Behold and be brave
Be brave and be outspoken
God eternally belongs to everyone

As far as my eyes could see
and as much as I could trust,
My eyes lost trust in all they witnessed

I was a pain-inducing potion,
made from a blend of headache and trouble
With each new medicine, my pain grew deeper

I am more seared [from the sun] than before,
where are you Moon?
In which spring can I find your reflection?
... Here, all I can see is a tight and dark corridor
Here, no matter where I look, I can't find the path to a shelter
... my grand spirit, do you now realize how small the world is?

Sow and reap
Reap and donate
God's earth belongs to everybody

Sow and reap
Reap and donate
God's earth belongs to everybody
Behold and be brave
Be brave and be outspoken
God eternally belongs to everyone

With the Sawdust

Along with the sawdust
I spit out the taste of being awake
With my coughs every night,
I feel the pain of being a carpenter, while asleep

I’m so sad for being a ladder
I’m so sad for being the sky
(Instead,)
I should practice being avwall

Like the fishes, I die in oil
The dirty sea
is slowly lessening my abundance

When I don’t die
I'm a troublemaker
And a limiting factor of life
But anyway,
One must tolerate
Being an overload

From my chest, the Bams (1)
With a mountain of sadness
Shook constantly

So I buried the livelihood
with myself,
along with all the humans

Once upon a time,
If a crow swallowed a fox
there’s no reason to be afraid
Alas!
If one day,
the soap learns how to be an impostor (2)

[Many things] have leaked out
Out of my grave: Bahram (3)
From my jar: Khayyam (4)
From my drunk behavior,
Hafez (5) is learning
how to be wide-awake!

When I don’t die
I'm a troublemaker
And a limiting factor of life
But anyway,
One must tolerate
Being an overload

1. Bam: A small city in the Kerman province of southeastern Iran that was destroyed by an earthquake in 2003, with the death toll amounting to at least 26,271 people and injuring up to 30,000.
2. The Fox and the Crow: A famous story in which the fox tricks the crow and takes away his soap by giving him false compliments.
3. Bahram: Bahram V, also known as Bahram-e-Goor (Goor in Persian is used to refer to graves and zebras), was the fifteenth king of the Sasanian Empire who hunted zebras his entire life and finally was placed in a grave after a hunting accident.
4. Khayyam: A famous Persian poet and scientist, known for his poetic references to wine jars.
5. Hafez: A famous Persian poet known for having a broad life perspective and being wide-awake.

Désirée

I raised my hand
In the captives’ banquet
So that you can keep your head up
Until the end of the world

I raised my hand
To find a way to your heart
So that you can see with how much love
I accept this defeat

You: a storm
Me: an island
Me: Napoleon
You: Désirée

Except for you,
Who can take away
the entire world from me?

The point of my absolute surrender,
was the point of my peace
I mesmerized your name,
this was my whole revolt

When I am in your atmosphere,
I own the entire earth
I have given up all my world
to sit under your umbrella

The excitement
of being surrendered by you
was in my body, every moment

The best image of my life
was the picture of me
kneeling in front of you

Slaves of the night

A solitary alley
At night you hear, ha!
Money and watches
And hum of motor

You are slaves of the night
Slaves of the night

You always run without stopping
From one place to the other place
The sirens goes one after the other
Accelerate to escape

You are slaves of the night
Slaves of the night

You scored off them again
Dawn will be soon
The celebration is over
You are a night birds

You are slaves of the night
Slaves of the night

Don't Break My Heart

your hobby is playing with my sad and exhausted heart
you don't remember all of those promises i made to you
despite all this cruelty, look how i kept my promises and vows
don't break my heart
swear to God someday my curse will cast upon you
don't you say you don't know
don't you say you don't know my heart is full of a burning curse
don't you say you don't know
don't you say you don't know all this lover does is crying day and night
don't make my heart crazy
someday my curse will cast upon you
don't you say you don't know
don't you say you don't know my heart is full of a burning curse
don't you say you don't know
don't you say you don't know all this lover does is crying day and night

I'm feeling under the weather again

It's been two days that the world has become more of the cage that it used to be
Give me some breath (of life), I'm feeling under the weather again
Have my back, they say you're a man of faith
And your breath of life works better than (my own) breath

There's always something wrong with my life
Oh, my heart bleeds for my life
There's always something wrong with my life
Oh, my heart bleeds for my life

I've already forgotten
what my cure is, what my pain is
I don't care (anymore)
who is not here and who is here with me

There's always something wrong with my life
I need a new death instead of my life
Don't let me die of this biting poison
I want to once come out of this game as a winner

There's always something wrong with my life
Oh, my heart bleeds for my life
There's always something wrong with my life
Oh, my heart bleeds for my life

Cheerfulness

swearing to God I always ask God
Our separation time never happen
so we will be together
but this alley had no end
don't take my dreams
I wanna be with with you , just you
My love, don't underrate my love
don't underrate my love
This much cheerfulness will end someday
if the alley had no end our life have
Be with me forever
All of my life
don't take my life
Don't speak about leaving

Ba Man Bemoon - با من بمون (Stay with me)

You opened your eyes, and my life changed (upside down)
You closed your eyes and again my darkness started
Your hair is the galaxy and your eyes are it is stars
The Solar system are your Earrings

Who between the kinds is kind like you,
نامهربونی با تو بد نیست بد شگونه

Stay with me...
Stay with me...
Stay with me...
Stay with me...

It was night, i had my eyes closed
The sun rose, i was sitting beside you
I opened my eyes, i saw no sign of you
I saw that except you in my life there is no dearer

Stay with me...
Stay with me...
Stay with me...
Stay with me...

Our Orthodox Faith

The eternal faith, the old faith,
The faith of our sacred emperors,
The eternal faith, the glorious faith,
Our Orthodox Faith! The faith of the regiment and princes,
And national knights.
The eternal faith, the glorious faith,
Our Orthodox Faith! It has given birth to knights,
And it has raised the saints.
The eternal faith, the glorious faith,
Our Orthodox Faith!
It melts our heart, it nerves our will
How could search for faith better than this?
The eternal faith, the glorious faith,
Our Orthodox Faith!

This religion is good to soul
It shines to a human mind.
The eternal faith, the glorious faith,
Our Orthodox Faith!

It enlightened the Serbian people,
It illuminated the Serbian land.
The eternal faith, the glorious faith,
Our Orthodox Faith!

It enlightened the Russian people,
It illuminated the Russian land.
The eternal faith, the glorious faith,
Our Orthodox Faith!
