Haìku 19. The Swallows

November, the swallows
Have vanished.
The sky, without its frail tin whistles
Has been hushed.
It is a lot less beautiful,
My street.
My heart, without their entangled
curves feels naked.

Their fathers abandon

Day, in town,
For us, marvelling men,
To gaze at.

On the greyish background of November

Haîku 12. The Jewel-wasp

The Jewel-wasp
With her blue-green body
Alights near me too late
In the year
In my winter-garden
Tell me tell me when
And where, solitary
Jewel-maker
Chiseller of red and blue
You're going to Bury
You, lost and beautiful,
Your tiara far from us?

The black branches of the cherry-tree
Draw in
The october sky a spider.
Another spider
So thin
passes before my feet.
Is there a hidden thread
Between the two of them?

See gold

Evening, in our Gardens
Summer still talks to us.

Haïku 8 Vera Jahnke

The passing the passing
Of Vera
In the clouds in the wind

For me the same look as
That of a great Swan slow and wise
Astonishing
In my autumn garden.

The arpeggiopoplars

the arpeggiopoplars
In the black wind of october
and the cellofir-trees
were playing for me in the snow
their lovely sober music
their frail recorder tune..
Can you hear them ,O, arpeggiopoplars?
that say that everythingislinked in the universe?
And the oboefir-trees, these bright green violas?
their sosnowywhisperthat sayseverythingisasound?
and vibration andbeatinunison?
Yes, I hear them clearly,
the arpeggiopoplars
which play the notes of their nice Advent concerto claiming
that plantandanimalandmanandeverythingFEELS?
and that nothing is ever squandered in the gusts of the wind
nor in the clouds or in the flocking flakes..
Everything lulls me in autumn, soothes and lightens me
all the trees rise and form their greyish orchestra
and the bassons play for me an enthralling tune,
a song that tells me again and again
that everything is a sacrilege
when man and nature do not live in harmony.
O, Can you hear them too,
the arpeggiopoplars,
Themwhosepurecorderlinksupairtimeandspace?

Humour is to love

Humour is just to Love
What humus is to a hibiscus
It makes it prick up a lot more
The thicker the layer and one can see
The hibiscus ( or the buttercup )
Get longer and and longer aiming at Light.
Without humus, no hibiscus,
Without humour, one cannot wholly see..Love.

Each woman has two hearts

Each woman has two hearts, a true one and a lying one.
One to hide her sobbings, one for the good moments
A trickster of a heart, the one for the lovers
Another Heart that is used for concea-lying.

Each woman has two hearts and a dolphin feels it
When it gets close and puts its nose on the belly
of a pregnant woman- What is this second heart ?
What is this strange human where I see two hearts beat ?

Each woman has two hearts and her cat just feels it
When she sees her, dishevelled, there , on the settee
After a loving night, full of false promises
You are a cat as well, with nine lives and two hearts
You ,too, live in night-time with your poor whining heart

Each female teenager is forced to have two hearts
A Heart saying yes to the boy, no to mummy
While hiding in the handbag the lovers' letters.

Each two-hearted woman would adopt on the spot
The crying child she sees there on her tv screen
Crying from misery, from War or starvation
There is a lot more room in two hearts than in one.

Each woman just survives with two hearts together
Each woman has two hearts yet constantly trembling
Never to get true love, or to beget children
To deceive themselves one day, often be deceived.
If the two-hearted clear-eyed woman lies
To you one day, don't go judging her severely
Each woman is true Love, with two time-to-time beating hearts

Distance

Versions: #1
Distance
Is not
The one between stars
The one between clouds
Or the one between floors
To climb up
To climb up
Distance
Is not
That of long trips
On sailing ships
On big oceans and seas
That look like mirages
So big they look and seem.
Where do seagulls all go
After their passing slow ?
This distance
That stretches
That stretches
That lengthens
That lengthens
That pulls me
That pulls me
This distance isn't far
And it is touchable
This distance is just there
Amongst the rooves and streets
That look impossible
To walk through
To walk through
This distance
That gives me so much pain
Every day
Is the way towards you
Is all the way to you
O my Love.

THe four-mast ship

You see this four-mast ship, with her superb white sails?
Patiently awaiting you, anchored at the shore ?
Do you feel attracted greatly to this vessel ?
You, the poor boy, always wishing, always unsure,
You, the orphan who daren't dream of travelling far ?

Can you see this vast ship with her glittering masts ?
Her spanker and bowsprit,, so little girl, O you,
Who'd love to sail away
Yet never knows how to?
Who yearns just to escape and discover New lands ?

Take her, this four-mast ship, embark, embark , on board !
Wherever your desires
shall be your treasure-trove
Wherever your Friends are will be your holiday.
Konrad Helmut Heidi
Even the dog Hairon
You'll be able to go
towards the horizon
To nice islands, countries, Ireland or Norway.

You see, this four-mast ship is different from others
From all others that one lovely day heave anchor
This four-mast ship can plunge deep down under the seas
Or take off, eagle-like, to incredible heights.
In the water, it reaches unknown abysses
And sometimes,it can cross the Flying Hollander
Up in the Sky, it gives to any child the force
To forget, to grow up, to
race or march forward
To soar up, to hover and become a leader.

You see, this four-mast sailing ship, if you Wonder
She conceals a secret hidden in her baggage
This so vast four-mast ship is the German language
A superb sailing- ship with her sails billowing.
Don't be unhappy now, don't feel a prisoner
O, you, upper-sail child
or simple worker's child
You can, one day truly
develop your own mind
And dive into an ocean of sheer Poetry.
This Splendor of a ship
harboured in her Haven
That will take you in places you have never been
Do you know her name, child, ? - her name is Liberty.

8. Oh, the dew in the leas

Oh, the dew in the leas
Just marvels
When Bahareh passes
In the Sun
Of the Big Persian fields
And wakes up
To her freshness that passes,
Uncomparable.
For, what could the dew do ?
to address
This issue ? what advice
To give to the Persian
White-complexioned diaphanous
And peach-like skinned fairy ?
Enlivening
THe great Persian mornings
Better than the fresh dew itself ?
Neither bees
Nor trellises
Ever Saw such great softness
Go by in white mornings
In the Iranian fields.
And the shy, so shy dew
Wishes she could dare
Ask the lovely beauty
How it could have its share
Of her cast and her Sheen
But, alas, indifferent,
THe beauty just walks by
In the dawn of Iran,
So beautiful each morn
More beautiful, Always more beautiful,
THe daughter of the Sun.

To Bahareh Tajfirouz.
