A lake lies still in silence

A young partizan stands silently

When freedom comes shining
And her partizan returns to her

That he will fight valiantly
And that in less than a year's time
He will liberate his people
 
But when the second year of struggle passes
His darling receives the letter
That high up in the mountains
The partizan's heart was pierced by a bullet
