Charles Bukowski - A Smile to Remember versuri traducere

A Smile to Remember

we had goldfish and they circled around and around
in the bowl on the table near the heavy drapes
covering the picture window and
my mother, always smiling, wanting us all
to be happy, told me, 'be happy Henry!'
and she was right: it's better to be happy if you
can
but my father continued to beat her and me several times a week while
raging inside his 6-foot-two frame because he couldn't
understand what was attacking him from within.

my mother, poor fish,
wanting to be happy, beaten two or three times a
week, telling me to be happy: 'Henry, smile!
why don't you ever smile?'

and then she would smile, to show me how, and it was the
saddest smile I ever saw

one day the goldfish died, all five of them,
they floated on the water, on their sides, their
eyes still open,
and when my father got home he threw them to the cat
there on the kitchen floor and we watched as my mother
smiled

Anthem to SPAL

On the sunday we'll go to pitch,
To cheer on our SPAL
When they want, they can play
And nobody can stop them
Come on, let's go, boys,
That we'll make'em feel scared
If we want to win, we can do it
Shot these balls inside their net.

And one,
And two,
And one, and two, and three,
I tell you, we'll score four!

And one,
And two,
And one, and two, and three,
I tell you, we'll score four!

And one,
And two,
And one, and two, and three,
I tell you, we'll score four!

If by disgrace they score against us,
Dribble em'all, even the fullbacks.
With courage and confidence,
Bring forward that ball.
Let's go SPAL, we are in Serie B
We don't want Serie C anymore
Let's go SPAL, keep going
That we'll win the Serie B!

And one,
And two,
And one, and two, and three,
I tell you, we'll score four!

And one,
And two,
And one, and two, and three,
I tell you, we'll score four!

And one,
And two,
And one, and two, and three,
I tell you, we'll score four!

All the crowd is anxious
Their eyes are on the ball
The fans are in frendzy:
'Let's go SPAL, we'll go in Serie A!'
Let's go, let's go, let's go SPAL
We've had enough of suffering
We are stronger than ever
Let's go SPAL and you'll win!

And one,
And two,
And one, and two, and three,
I tell you, we'll score four!

And one,
And two,
And one, and two, and three,
I tell you, we'll score four!

And one,
And two,
And one, and two, and three,
I tell you, we'll score four!

Nowkhosravani 4/ you are that cloud which...

They say a beautiful flower compares to the moon the moon to the sun,
You are that cloud which fragrance of your shadow, like the shadow of your fragrance, could veil the flower and the moon and the sun.

RED

Love is always complicated.
Words never fly straight.
I just want to live simply,
but I can’t anymore—I want to run away.

You wear a beautiful dress,
smiling so innocently.
But even that kind of happiness scares me,
so I can’t anymore—I want to run away.

What should I do?
All these fakes keep changing my life.

Love is always a coward,
always afraid of words.
Blindfolded— in the darkness, my hands can’t grasp the light.

What should I do?
All these fakes keep changing my life.

“Even if it costs me my life,”
“I will protect you.”
But if that’s not how this goes,
then just break me already.
Please—don’t go.

A Prayer

Gazing into an angel’s smile
A deaf old lady folds her hands together
In the empty space of the church
A candle burns next to the altar

The light of the small flame fades
The evening rises [its] crow wings
The old lady closes1 her eyes
The church drowns in the dark of the night

A prayer will turn into a trifle
Every problem, every quarrel
In the empty space of the church
The candle next to the altar goes out
