The shipwreck of Thrush

' This piece of wood refreshing my forehead
when the noon was setting veins on fire
wants to flourish in other hands. Take it, I give it to you-

I heard the voice
while I was staring at the sea to discern
a ship sunk years now-
they named it ' Thrush' a small wreck - its masts ,
broken, were waving inclined in the distance, like tentacles
or like a memory of dreams, revealing its stock
a blurred open mouth of some huge dead whale
faded away in the water. Peace was spread everywhere.

Other voices too, one by one, followed
slowly- fading and thirsty whispers
emerging from the other side of sun, the dark one-
you might say they were seeking to drink just a drop of blood-
they were familiar to me but I couldn't discern them.

And the voice of the old man was heard, I grasped it
as it was falling right το the heart of the day
quiet, almost immobile:

'Even if you condemn me to take the poison, I thank you-
your right, would be mine too, where shall I go
roaming in foreign lands, like a rounded rock

I prefer dying
only God knows whose way is the best one to take'.

Lands of sun and you cannot face the sun.
Lands of human and you cannot face humans.
