Fireflies

We on a pair of hot
Spirited horses of hers,
In evening fragrant charms,
From guests she was going home.
 

The packed path was winding,
Laid down with fields midst mountains.
Far away illuminated the skies –
Moribor lit the lanterns.
 

Night, in full spring of Slovene summer,
Intoxicated with chill warmth,
Saint Marietta from the belltower
Was watching over village of hers.
 

Barely corn rustled in silence,
Distant palace stood on the mountains,
Where from “angst” – deceased Caruso
Took note “d” in gramophone.
 

But the words, - you won’t tell them, -
Are nearing and far.
Shine over our carriage
The flying fireflies.
 

Almost taken from tropical tale
This our way miraculous.
On the road, viscous from gravel,
Our carriage turns.
 

Alien is city, child of excitement,
Commotion is legalized.
From the belltower of Holy Leonard
Is carried the hoarse sigh.
 

Holy Barbara behind mountains
Responds to him in a way dull:
One more punch and two more punches
Into the fragrant darkness fall.
 

And for us, before us, above us,
In reflection of the streams,
Curl – with into reality turned dreams
Dreaming fireflies.
