Little ewe

Near a lush meadow
Under heaven’s shadow,
On a narrow trail,
Winding down the vale,
Three flocks of sheep, tramp,
Three shepherds set camp.
One is Moldovan,
One is Ungurean,
And the last, Vrancean.
Now, the Ungurean
And the one Vrancean,
Secretly, desired,
Quietly, conspired,
At the end of day
To attack and slay,
The one Moldovan.
The wealthiest one.
Because, he has sheep
Many and honed, to keep,
Horses trained and selfless,
Dogs loyal and fireless.
But a small ewe there,
Black and white, her hair,
For about three days,
Worry, her voice says,
Grass, she didn’t graze.
- Little ewe, so fair,
Black and white, your hair,
For about three days,
Your voice worry says,
Grass, you didn’t graze.
Are you maybe ailing,
Little ewe, my darling?
- Dear shepherd dear,
Herd the flock back near
That forest, with crows,
Where grass fresh grows,
And a cool breeze flows.
Dear master dear,
Bring a sheepdog here,
Braver than any other,
Loyal like a brother.
When the night shades lie,
You’re doomed to die,
Slain by Ungurean
And by the Vrancean!
- Ewe, enchanted ewe,
If your word is true,
If I am to die,
On field, under sky,
Tell the one Vrancean
And the Ungurean
To bury me here,
Just about my gear,
By the sheepfold ground
With my flocks around,
Back behind my shack
To hear my dogs' bark.
Tell them what I’ve said
And beside my head
Lie a flute of beech
With its loving pitch.
A small flute of bone
With its forlorn tone.
A flute of elder wood
With its fierce mood.
As the wind will blow,
The flutes’ song will grow,
And my flock of sheep
Knowing where I sleep,
Bloody tears will weep.
And about my fate,
Do not tell them, straight.
Better tell instead,
That I went to wed,
A princess, most gracious,
The world’s bride, so precious.
And on my wedding day,
A bright star fell away,
The sun and the moon,
Held my crown, as groom.
Maple and elm trees
Were my invitees,
Priests were mountains, high,
Birds, fiddlers sang by,
And across the sky
Stars brighten the eye!
Maybe, once, you’ll meet,
On some random street,
A mother too feeble,
With her woolen girdle
And tears on her face,
Running from place to place,
And asking everyone,
These words about her son:
'Have you seen someday,
Somewhere far away,
Lad, handsome as king,
Slim as wedding ring?
His little face, bright,
Is like milk's white.
And his moustache, neat,
Is like summer’s wheat!
And his thick hair seems,
Raven’s plume, it gleams.
His eyes, deep and merry,
Are hued as ripe blackberry.”
To her little ewe,
Don't tell what is true.
Tell her how I said,
That I went to wed,
A daughter of king,
On the heaven wing.
But my mother, dear,
Doesn’t need to hear,
That on my wedding day,
A bright star fell away,
That maple and elm trees
Were my invitees,
Priests were mountains, high,
Birds, fiddlers sang by,
And across the sky,
Stars brighten the eye!

Do You [Still] Want Me By Dawn?

Two lit candles by the table
The silence is speaking
I'm obsessed
Enchanted night
Everything outside is still
Your desire glistens in the corner of your eye
My heart pounds
Today will soon be yesterday

The enchantment takes over
And hot feelings sedate us
My self defense [mechanism]
We give and take
But the question lingers on

Tonight I'll make your body and soul glow
Do you [Still] want me by dawn?
In the darkness of the night our love can feed
But do you want to love or run away?
What'll happen next?
What'll happen next?

The first light of dawn
Is soon outside our house
But yet still
We have the night
I want to give you a memory
Something for every sense
So enjoy and feel
And the truth
Can wait a little longer

We meet and we disappear
But if we run out of time
We'll get to stay
And get an answer
You remember the question

Tonight I'll make your body and soul glow

Tonight I'll make your body and soul glow

I'm Still Not Giving Up on Getting the Credits I Need

—This is the story of a certain student, the story of a foolish student who, with exams approaching, starts panicking because he hasn't done anything to do with the exams.

End-of-term tests start tomorrow.
I have to study, I have to take them seriously.
The way it's going, I won't get the credits I need.
It's really bad, it's really bad.

I get back home, put down my bag,
look around, my room's a mess.
It starts bugging me, my room's a mess.
I have to clean up, I have to clean up.

—Next, the student begins to tidy his room. Time relentlessly passes, the date advances. The room's a mess, study hasn't begun.

Tidy up my room! Hurry! Hurry!
What the exam'll cover! Where did I put it? Where did I put it?
Rely on my best guesses! Pray! Pray!
Dawn's not far away! Rush! Rush!

The day of the exam, I slept in.
What a thing to happen! If I jump out of bed,
I'll still be on time. I burst out of the house.
I wait obediently at the red light.

I basically run, sometimes I walk.
By breathing's heavy, my head hurts.
But I don't give up. I won't give up yet.
I'll sit the exam, I'll get my credits.

—One misfortune after the other befalls the student who foolishly woke up late. Nevertheless, the student still won't abandon hope.

To the appointed place! Run! Run!
The end-of-term exam! Take it! Take it!
Sleepiness whispers! Sleep! Sleep!
Beat the drowsiness! Wake up! Wake up!

—Overcoming various trials, the student made it to school in one piece. Thus he can finally sit the exam unashamedly.

I got, I got to the appointed place.
I took, I took the end-of-term exam.
I'm worried about the results! How will it go? How will it go?
All I can do now is pray! Please! Please!

The day after the exam, I slept in.
But it's OK, today's a day off.
I welcome a refreshing morning,
look around, my room's a mess.

I'm tired so I'll leave it as it is.
Next time I feel like it, I'll do it then.
For now, I'll sleep, just have a break.
History will repeat itself again.

—This was the story of a certain student, the story of a foolish student who right before his exams felt like tidying up his room. Now as for the exam results …?

And Come On

And come on, and come on,
you already knew for a long time
that this love of ours
had been with others,

that all of my dreams,
I would never have achieved them,
that I was yours for life until
you had someone else like me.

But come on, but come on,
I already knew for a long time
that these words of mine
I told you were perfect.

And that love at this point
was over already for a long time.
I'm only afraid to tell you because
I'd not have found someone else as dear as you.

So goodbye, best wishes to you
and so goodbye, best wishes to me too.
What's the point of staying together now
if everything's over between us?

So goodbye, best wishes to you
and so goodbye, best wishes to me too.
What's the point of staying together now
if everything's over between us?
What's the point of staying together now
if everything's over between us?
What's the point of staying together now
if everything is over between us?...

It's Christmas

I don't know which star brought you here
And my life was filled with 'I love you'
And I left all my sorrows in the past
They have become love, they have become love
Look outside, it's covered in snow for good
Let's go and play like children
Thousands of lights shine rhythmically

Let it be the beginning
My love, the beginning
All the Christmas together
It's more than just my wish

All the Christmas together
It's from now on my only wish
All these years and celebrations
Let me be in your arms
Let you be in my arms

All the Christmas you should say
Even a thousand and two lives aren't enough for me
To have you here by my side
Every Christmas

It's Christmas
It's Christmas
It's Christmas
It's Christmas...

I don't know if it's a miracle
Or if I'm living a dream
But everything has festive scents
And all the mistakes
They are left the deep

They've become love
They've become love

In front of the fireplace
We're making our own fire
It burns and warms up our own heart
Christmas songs on radio again
They sound loud, very loud

All the Christmas together
It's from now on my only wish
All these years and celebrations
Let me be in your arms
Let you be in my arms

All the Christmas you should say
Even a thousand and two lives aren't enough for me
To have you here by my side
Every Christmas

It's Christmas
It's Christmas
It's Christmas
It's Christmas...
